2015 VDF 'Rive Droite'

Reynald Héaulé

Regular price $45 750ml Sale

Organic Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier (50/50). De-stemmed and 2 weeks maceration, to give a bit more extraction than his other light reds. Then 30 months élevage in old demi-muid.

Similar to 2014, perhaps with a touch more power. The cherries are slightly richer, a mix of red and black. Red roses, red delicious apples, darker minerals and baking spice. The tobacco element is a bit less here too. Berry compote and a hint of liquorice. Clean yet subdued. On the palate this has a silky, slippery delivery. The mid palate is leaner, yet the outskirts offer apple crunch and small red berries for days. Quite linear rather than plush, this is fine and sleek. The fruit is there with a slight savoury element, fresh and easy, with fine tannins and medium acidity. With time the fruit does brighten up further, offering lighter strawberry and raspberry notes. Carefully encapsulated by dark red apple skin flavour and phenolics. Limestone tension at the back, very fine boned in structure. Another wine to watch morph over several days.
