This is a relatively new appellation, and a step up from AOP Bourgogne. The grapes must come from within the Côte d'Or and have lower yields. Pinot Noir from Puligny, from vines with an average age of 30 years. This vineyard faces east and is made up of clay and limestone soils. Whole bunch maceration for 12 days, followed by 11 months in barrels with an average age of 5 years.
Heightened aromas of violets and blackberries, followed by black cherry and plum, with a hint of menthol in the background. Supple palate with blackberry and cherry fruit, some chocolate and spice, and lots of fine chewy grippy structure. Love the tannin on this – pinot with depth and a sinewy swirl that’s leads to a pleasant finish.
