From one hectare of Beaujolais vines (in the commune of Émeringes) planted in 1956, on clay, sand and pebbles. 3 weeks carbonic maceration. The wine was then raised in old barrel for 8 months. Not fined or filtered. Zero SO2. This is the second year that she decided not to apply for the AOC (like many other natural winemakers, in protest to the bureaucracy), so she can't legally put 'Beaujolais' on the bottle. Hence the way it is written.

Slightly more transparent than usual, not as cloudy. Medium red with violet edges. Big smell of blueberries and red roses. Graphite in the back. Wild herbs and flowers. It’s deep but at the same time, pretty. Much cleaner this year. A little bit of exotic perfume. To taste it is silky and clean. Packed with flavour as per usual. Lots of mid palate weight. Unctuous and creamy. Medium acidity that is very gently tart. The wine is balanced. Simple, but deep. Just for enjoyment. Really impressed with how clean this is. Sweet fruit, loads of flavour, and gentle extract. A touch of Campari. Chewy tannins on the finish – not powerful, but present. Really, really good.
