2018 AOC Beaujolais 'La Galoche' rosé
Gamay from 25 year old vines grown on clay and limestone. Direct press, then vinified and aged in stainless steel tanks for 4 months. 15ppm SO2 before bottling.
Great colour, not pink, not red. In the middle somewhere. Big nose of strawberries and raspberries. Very clean. Great perfume. Clean in the mouth, quite linear with gentle texture. Fresh, clean, strawberries for days. Limestone feels prominent giving it more interest. A stony kind of mineral. Medium plus acidity. Smooth delivery. Tension on finish. Fresh red delicious apple crunch. Quite crunchy actually, then mineral, then tension. Very well made. Pretty decent length for a cheapie. Leave it open for days. Perfect for picnics with friends, or to drink with a lover as the sun goes down. And to be honest this punches well above its weight for price. It will catch you by surprise.
