2019 AOC Morgon 'Les Charmes'
From a 0.8ha plot of 60 year old vines, grown on white granite and red schist. This site is quite elevated at 500M. De-stemmed by hand, 20 days cold carbonic maceration, then aged in old barrels for 18 months. 10ppm SO2 before bottling.
Clean nose, smells of roses and baking spice. Elegant, almost Burgundy-esque. Warm soil. Dark cherry and boysenberry. Exotic perfume, lovely and lifted. Seamless to drink. Red berries and spice. Silky and elegant, beautifully balanced. Great mid palate - light but with detail and lots of finesse. Stunning wine for the price. Vibrant in the mouth, with grainy tannins and excellent length. Medium acidity – bright and gently tart. Beautiful boysenberry fruit. An absolute steal considering the quality. Serve slightly chilled.
