From one hectare of Beaujolais vines (in the commune of Émeringes) planted in 1956, on clay, sand and pebbles. The grapes are cooled for 24 hours and then undergo 3 weeks of carbonic maceration. The wine was then raised in old barrels for 8 months. Not fined or filtered, and no added SO2 at any stage.

Dark colour and deep aromas. Blind, you could be smelling a wine from the Rhône. Black roses and rocks. Black cherry and dark chocolate. Full mid palate, fresh in the mouth, with sour cherry, boysenberry, fine tannins and a welcoming tart finish. The fruit profile is dark, with morello cherries surfacing with air. Fruit becomes much lighter with time in the glass. Drink slightly chilled.
