La Grapperie

Regular price $50 750ml Sale

In 2016, about a third of Renaud’s grapes were destroyed by one form or another of extreme weather conditions. He only harvested enough Chenin to fill 5 barrels. This wine is a blend of those barrels, plus a single barrel from 2015 where the grapes were harvested with noble rot, and one barrel of 2017, which was originally for his other cuvée La Desirée. A cross vintage blend which works extremely well, and is rather old-school in style. A serious food wine. Zero sulfites.

Beautiful golden colour. Aromas of lemon curd, honey blossom, baked apple cake, shortbread, almonds and apricot. The wine carries itself with medium weight and texture, making it ideal to pair with cheese or a meal, rather than drinking by itself. It has an old-school feel about it and is richer in style without being flabby. Overall the wine is slightly wild - this is perhaps for the more adventurous that want to try something a bit different.
