Pinot Noir from Comblanchien, on the middle part of the hillside with marble slabs. The vines are almost 40 years old, and grow predominantly on clay and limestone. Vinification in stainless steel vats - 100% whole bunch maceration for 15 days, and then aged in old barrels for one year. Not fined or filtered. 10ppm SO2 added before bottling.
I always love the perfume of this wine, every year. Blackberries, black cherries and plums. Lots of roses and violets waiting to emerge. Still youthful, so decant if you want to get a glimpse into its future. Very clean to taste, and has a lovely blackberry tartness to it. Darker fruits this year, but straight and fresh. Has Rhône-like power, with a pretty perfume underneath it all. Long, linear, and layered, with huge mineral tension on the finish. Packed with flavour, and more mineral than jammy. Decant now, or tuck away for a few years. Serve slightly chilled.
