2019 VDF 'L’Esprit Libre'

Light yellow colour, glossy and vibrant in the glass. Very gentle noble reduction on opening. Clean and clear to smell, with notes of fresh apples, lime, honeydew and elderflower. The soils have clearly left their mark too, we instantly know we're in Anjou. The overall restraint of the aromas is brilliant. To taste it is fresh and clean, and lightly coats the mouth before the mouthwatering acidity kicks in and carries the wine gracefully. In the beginning it is slightly juicy with excellent tension - and then with air, it opens up and becomes slightly more giving. The balance between the honeyed notes and the acidity is impeccable, leaving you with a huge sense of satisfaction. Bright, lifted, clean and extremely pure, L'Esprit Libre is a world class Chenin for a steal at this price. Absolutely stunning.
